Knowledge about Road Studs and Special Usage of Aluminum Road Stud.
The road stud, also known as raised pavement markers, what we are talking about is usually the kind applied on highway and urban roads. It is a kind of road safety facility which is made of plastic or aluminum and other materials. It can not only be placed solely, but also can be placed according to the marking lines. It is used to mark the center line, lane line, edge line, corners, ramp entrance and exit, diversion marking, road narrowing, road obstacles and other road segments by being fixed on the road surface so that it can remind drivers to drive in the right lane through its recessive reflection.
As is known to all, road stud is mainly intended to remind the driver to ensure a safe driving, especially in the condition of rainy days or dark night, where marking lines are submerged by rain and fail to do their job. Since the height is usually about 2 cm, its reflector is still visible to drivers despite the rain water accumulated on the road surface. In addition to that, the road studs play an important role in warning the driver to stay cool when driving by producing bumpy effect for the driver when the vehicle run over them.
Moreover, the road studs possess one more function: if they are installed densely on the road, they can serve as the convex lines and bring the decelerating effect. However, only the total aluminum road stud possesses the character, which possesses high compressive resistance and is usually applied at the double amber lines. Many countries in the Middle East tend to substitute the convex lines with total aluminum road studs, because to draw convex lines, you have to buy the expensive shock marking machine, in addition, it also takes to much labor and time. In contrast, road studs are not only cheaper than convex lines, but also are relatively easy to install, therefore, applying road stud instead of convex lines is of high price/performance ratio when the engineering quantity is not large. However, the service life of road stud is far shorter than the convex lines, so when choosing between the road stud and convex lines, you need take the overall situation into consideration.
